And before the first hour is over, each member of your household is in a completely different environment, facing completely different challenges, making completely different decisions. The most powerful thing you can do before that scattering begins is cover every one of them in prayer. These 30 morning family prayers will help you do exactly that.

One day the members of the heavenly court came to present themselves before the Lord, and the Adversary, Satan, came with them. The Lord asked Satan, Have you considered My servant Job? There is no one on earth like him; he is blameless and upright, a man who fears God and shuns evil. Then the Lord said: have you noticed that there is a hedge of protection around him and his household?

Job 1 contains one of the most revealing behind-the-scenes conversations in all of Scripture. Satan comes before God and the very first thing God draws his attention to is Job. And before Satan can raise any accusation, God introduces a detail that Satan was already fully aware of: there is a hedge of protection around Job and his household. The hedge was already there. Satan had already tried to get through it. He could not.
What produced that hedge? Job 1:5 gives the answer: early in the morning Job would send and have his children purified. He would sacrifice burnt offerings for each of them, thinking: perhaps my children have sinned and cursed God in their hearts. This was Job’s regular custom. Regular. Not occasional. Not when he remembered. Regular morning intercession for his family was the spiritual practice that produced the divine hedge that even Satan acknowledged he could not penetrate.
The principle is unchanged for the believer today. Morning prayer for your family is not a religious routine. It is the spiritual activity that erects the hedge. Every morning you cover your family in prayer, you are building a wall that the enemy has to acknowledge. Every morning you skip that prayer, you are leaving a gap in the hedge that the enemy is actively looking for. Job’s children were not aware that their father was interceding for them every morning. But they were benefiting from it. Your family may not know you are praying for them each morning. But they are benefiting from it.
Acts 16:31 contains a promise that should be the daily fuel of every family intercessor: believe in the Lord Jesus and you will be saved, you and your household. The scope of salvation’s promise extends beyond the individual believer to the household. God’s intent is not just to save you. It is to save your entire household, to protect your entire household and to bless your entire household. Morning prayer is the daily activation of that household promise.

HOW TO USE THESE MORNING FAMILY PRAYERS
Pray these 30 prayer points every morning before your family begins their day. Pray them by name. Do not pray generic family prayers. Speak the name of your spouse in Section 2. Speak the name of each child in Section 3. Name the specific situations they are facing. Name the specific environments they will enter today. The more specific your family prayer, the more targeted the divine covering becomes. OPENING PRAYER – BEFORE YOU BEGIN
Father, before this family goes anywhere today I bring every one of them before You. You know each person in this household by name. You know what they will face today before they face it. Cover them Lord. Go before them. And let the hedge You placed around Job and his household rest on my family today and every day. In the name of Jesus. Amen!

SECTION 1: COVERING YOUR HOUSEHOLD WITH THE BLOOD OF JESUS
Exodus 12:13 and Hebrews 9:14 and Revelation 12:11

ADMONITION BEFORE YOU PRAY:
Exodus 12:13 contains the most powerful household protection principle in the entire Bible: the blood shall be a sign for you on the houses where you are, and when I see the blood I will pass over you. When God sees the blood, the destroyer cannot enter. This was the original Passover principle: the protection was not based on the worthiness of the inhabitants but on the presence of the blood on the doorpost. When you plead the blood of Jesus over your household every morning, you are applying the same principle in the New Testament context. The blood of Christ is infinitely more powerful than the blood of a Passover lamb because it is the blood of the sinless Son of God whose life is eternal and infinite. Every morning you apply that blood to the doorposts of your home in prayer, you are telling the destroyer: you cannot enter here. And Revelation 12:11 confirms that the blood is still the primary weapon: they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb.

Prayer Points 1 to 6

  1. I plead the blood of Jesus over my entire household right now! Over every person who lives under this roof, every person connected to this family and every person I am about to cover in prayer. Let the blood of Jesus mark every entrance of our home. When the enemy sees the blood, he must pass over, in Jesus’ name!
  2. I plead the blood of Jesus over my own life as I go out today. Over my mind, my body, my spirit and my soul. Let the blood of Christ be my covering in every environment I enter, every conversation I have and every decision I make today. I am under the blood from this morning until I return home tonight, in Jesus’ name!
  3. I plead the blood of Jesus over my spouse today. From the moment they leave this home until the moment they return. Cover their mind, their body, their spirit and their workplace. Let the blood speak protection over them in every situation they will face today, in Jesus’ name!
  4. I plead the blood of Jesus over every child in my household today. Cover them on the road to school, in their classrooms, in the playground, in every social interaction and on their return home. Let the blood of Jesus be the shield that no harm can penetrate around each one of my children today, in Jesus’ name!

SECTION 2: PRAYING FOR YOUR SPOUSE EVERY MORNING
Ephesians 5:25 and Proverbs 31:10 and 1 Corinthians 7:3 to 4

ADMONITION BEFORE YOU PRAY:
One of the most neglected practices in Christian marriage is the consistent, specific, daily intercession of each spouse for the other. Ephesians 5:25 instructs husbands to love their wives as Christ loved the church and gave Himself up for her. The primary expression of Christ’s love for the church was sacrifice, specifically the sacrifice of prayer. Jesus ever lives to make intercession for His own (Hebrews 7:25). If the husband’s love is to pattern itself on Christ’s love, then daily intercession for his wife is one of the most fundamental expressions of that love. And the principle is equally true for wives. The spouse who prays for their partner every morning is building the most important foundation of a lasting marriage: the habit of fighting for your spouse in prayer before you face the day together or apart.

Prayer Points 7 to 12

  1. Father, I lift my spouse before You right now by name. You know everything they are facing today that I do not know. You know their fears, their pressures and their private struggles. Cover them in those places. Speak to them in the areas where they need to hear Your voice. And let them feel loved, supported and divinely covered as they go through this day, in Jesus’ name!
  2. Lord, protect my spouse today in every environment they enter. On the road, in their workplace, in every interaction and in every decision they make. Let Your angels surround them and let no danger, no accident and no evil assignment reach them today. Bring them home safely to me tonight, in Jesus’ name!
  3. Father, let divine favour rest on my spouse in everything they do today. In their work, in their business dealings, in their relationships with colleagues and clients, let people see something on them that cannot be explained naturally. Let the blessing of God be visible on their life today, in Jesus’ name!
  4. I pray for my spouse’s emotional health today. Where they are carrying worry or stress, let Your peace which surpasses understanding guard their heart and mind (Philippians 4:7). Where they are discouraged, let Your encouragement reach them through a word, a person or Your own still small voice today, in Jesus’ name!
  5. Father, let my marriage be strengthened today. Let the enemy find no foothold in the communication, the relationship or the emotional connection between me and my spouse. Let misunderstanding be replaced with understanding and let love be renewed in both of us as this day progresses, in Jesus’ name!
  6. Lord, let me be a better spouse today than I was yesterday. Give me the patience, the kindness, the sensitivity and the love that my partner needs from me. Let me see them through Your eyes this morning and let that vision govern how I treat them in every interaction we have today, in Jesus’ name!

SECTION 3: PRAYING FOR YOUR CHILDREN BEFORE THEY LEAVE HOME
Isaiah 54:13 and Psalm 91:11 and Proverbs 22:6

ADMONITION BEFORE YOU PRAY:
Isaiah 54:13 is one of the most comprehensive educational promises in all of Scripture: all your children shall be taught by the Lord and great shall be the peace of your children. God Himself as Teacher, not just informing but forming. Not just giving knowledge but shaping character, building wisdom and producing the kind of peace that is independent of exam results, social acceptance or competitive performance. When you pray this scripture over your children every morning before they go to school, you are releasing the most effective educational system available to any child. And Job 1:5 is the model for how consistently this prayer should be made: this was Job’s regular custom. Every morning before his children went about their day, he covered them. Make covering your children in morning prayer your regular custom.

Prayer Points 13 to 18

  1. Father, I cover every child in my household right now by name. Each one is a heritage from the Lord (Psalm 127:3) and I am steward of the heritage You entrusted to me. Cover them with the blood of Jesus. Assign angels to them specifically for today. And let Your hand of protection rest on each one from this moment until they are safely back home, in Jesus’ name!
  2. Lord, let my children be taught by You today according to Isaiah 54:13! In every classroom, in every lesson, in every interaction with their teachers, let Your wisdom superintend what enters their minds. Let them understand what needs to be understood and retain what needs to be retained, in Jesus’ name!
  3. I pray against every negative peer influence over my children today. Every wrong friendship that would draw them away from their values, every pressure to conform to what is wrong and every voice that contradicts what we have taught them at home. Father, give them the courage to stand for what is right even when standing alone, in Jesus’ name!
  4. Father, protect my children physically today. On the road to school, in the school environment, in sports and physical activity and on their return home. Let no accident, no violence and no physical harm reach them. Let the angels You command concerning them guard them in all their ways (Psalm 91:11), in Jesus’ name!
  5. I pray for my children’s emotional wellbeing today. Let them not be bullied, mocked or made to feel inferior or unloved in any environment today. Where they face social difficulty, let Your comfort be tangible. Let them know, even without being told by a person, that they are loved by God and valued beyond measure, in Jesus’ name!
  6. Father, draw my children closer to You today. Let every experience of this day somehow point them toward You. Let the seeds of faith we have planted at home find good soil in their spirits and produce a harvest of genuine personal faith that belongs to them and not just to their parents, in Jesus’ name!

SECTION 4: PRAYING FOR UNITY, PEACE AND GOD’S PRESENCE IN YOUR HOME
Psalm 133:1 and Colossians 3:15 and Matthew 18:20

ADMONITION BEFORE YOU PRAY:
Psalm 133:1 declares: how good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity! But verse 3 reveals what unity produces: for there the Lord bestows His blessing, even life forevermore. The blessing of God is specifically released in places of unity. And conversely, where there is division, strife and relational breakdown, the flow of God’s blessing is hindered. This is why the enemy works so consistently to introduce conflict into family relationships. He is not just trying to make your home unpleasant. He is trying to shut off the channel through which God’s blessing flows. Colossians 3:15 gives the practical instruction: let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts. The peace of Christ is meant to be the umpire of family interactions. When you pray for unity and peace in your home every morning, you are actively creating the conditions for God’s blessing to flow.

Prayer Points 19 to 24

  1. Father, let the peace of Christ rule in every heart in my household today according to Colossians 3:15! Let it be the umpire of every conversation, every decision and every conflict that arises. Where there is the temptation to say something harsh, let the peace of Christ call the play. Where there is the temptation to react badly, let the peace of Christ govern the response, in Jesus’ name!
  2. I pray for unity in my home today according to Psalm 133:1. Let there be no strife, no bickering, no simmering resentment and no unresolved conflict that the enemy can use to build a wall between family members. Let us be quick to forgive, slow to anger and committed to the unity that releases God’s blessing, in Jesus’ name!
  3. Father, let Your presence be the atmosphere of my home today. Not just a house where people live but a home where God is present. Let every person who walks through our door sense something different. Let our home be a place of refuge, of peace and of genuine encounter with the living God, in Jesus’ name!
  4. I pray against every spirit of division, misunderstanding and communication breakdown in my household today. Every demonic assignment to create conflict between family members, to magnify minor irritations into major arguments and to use the stress of the day to damage relationships at home, I cancel every such assignment by fire, in Jesus’ name!
  5. Lord, let our family conversations today be marked by kindness, patience and mutual respect. Let us listen well. Let us speak carefully. Let us assume the best about each other rather than the worst. And let the love of God that has been poured into our hearts (Romans 5:5) be visible in how we treat each other inside these walls, in Jesus’ name!
  6. Father, where You are present and two or three are gathered in Your name there You are in their midst (Matthew 18:20). I invite Your presence into my household for this entire day. Let Jesus be the unseen but fully felt member of every family interaction today. Let His presence change what our natural tendencies would produce, in Jesus’ name!

SECTION 5: DECLARING GOD’S BLESSING AND PROMISE OVER YOUR HOUSEHOLD
Numbers 6:24 to 26 and Deuteronomy 28:3 to 6 and Acts 16:31

ADMONITION BEFORE YOU PRAY:
Acts 16:31 is the promise that should be the daily fuel of every family intercessor: believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved, you and your household. The Philippian jailer did not believe and only he was saved. The promise extended to his household. And Acts 16:34 records the fulfilment: the whole household was filled with joy because they had come to believe in God. That progression, one believing person, family prayer, household salvation and household joy, is the pattern that morning family prayer is designed to activate. You are the Job of your household. You are the believing jailer. You are the one who stands between the promises of God and the people you love. Declare those promises over your household every morning.

Prayer Points 25 to 30

  1. I speak the blessing of Numbers 6:24 to 26 over my entire household right now: the Lord bless my family and keep my family! The Lord make His face shine upon my family and be gracious to them! The Lord turn His face toward my family and give them peace! Let this threefold blessing rest on every person in my household today and throughout the week, in Jesus’ name!
  2. I declare over my household according to Deuteronomy 28:3 to 6: blessed are we in the city and blessed in the field! Blessed is the fruit of our bodies and the work of our hands! Blessed are we when we come in and blessed when we go out! The comprehensive blessing of God covers every dimension of my household’s life today, in Jesus’ name!
  3. I stand on Acts 16:31 for every unsaved member of my family: they will be saved! I believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and His promise extends to my household. Let the Holy Spirit draw every family member who does not yet know Jesus toward a personal encounter with Him in this season. Their salvation is coming, in Jesus’ name!
  4. Father, let great peace rest on every child in my household today according to Isaiah 54:13. Not the absence of challenge but the presence of Your peace within the challenge. Let them carry a settled assurance that they are loved by God and covered by prayer wherever this day takes them, in Jesus’ name!
  5. I declare that my household will serve the Lord according to Joshua 24:15! Not just today but as a multigenerational covenant. Let the faith of this family be something that passes from generation to generation. Let what God is building in our household outlast our lifetimes and bless our children’s children, in Jesus’ name!
  6. Father, I seal this morning family prayer with the declaration of Job who covered his children every single day: I have prayed for this family. I have interceded for every member. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT MORNING PRAYER FOR THE FAMILY
What if my spouse or family members do not pray with me in the morning?
Your intercession as a believing family member has power regardless of whether others participate. Job 1:5 records that Job prayed for his children without any indication that they participated in the prayer. 1 Corinthians 7:14 says the unbelieving spouse is sanctified through the believing one and so are your children. Your faith and your prayer create a spiritual covering over your family members even when they are not praying themselves. Do not wait for everyone to be ready before you begin. Begin as the intercessor God has positioned in your household.
How do I pray specifically for adult children who no longer live with me?
The same way Job prayed for his grown children who were living independently (Job 1:4 to 5). Distance does not diminish the reach of intercession. Prayer is not limited by geography. When you pray for your adult children by name, pleading the blood of Jesus over them and declaring God’s promises over their lives, you are engaging in spiritual activity that operates in the realm where distance is irrelevant. Acts 16:31 does not qualify its household promise by age or by proximity.
Should I pray the same prayers for my family every morning or vary them?
A combination of consistent declarations and specific responsive prayers is most effective. Consistent declarations, like the blood covering and the blessing of Numbers 6, build a spiritual foundation that becomes stronger with repetition. Romans 10:17 says faith comes by hearing and when you speak the same covenant declarations over your family every morning, faith grows in you for those declarations. But also add specific prayers that respond to what each family member is actually facing that day.
My family is going through severe crisis right now. Can these prayers still help?
These prayers are most needed precisely in seasons of family crisis. Job’s hedge was tested by the most catastrophic sequence of family loss in Scripture. And even in the aftermath of that crisis, God’s covenant relationship with Job was never severed. Praying for your family through crisis is not evidence that God is not listening. 2 Chronicles 20:3 records that when Jehoshaphat faced a crisis that threatened his entire household, he proclaimed a fast and inquired of the Lord. He prayed. They fasted. And God gave them a victory they could not have achieved themselves.
At what age should children be included in morning family prayer?
From the earliest age at which they can be present. Deuteronomy 6:6 to 7 instructs parents to impress God’s commandments on their children when you sit at home and when you get up. Young children do not need to understand every word to benefit from the spiritual atmosphere that family prayer creates. As they grow they will begin to understand, then to participate, then to lead. The faith habits built in childhood are among the most enduring influences of a person’s entire life.

The Most Important Thing You Do for Your Family Today Is Pray
Job 1:10 records Satan’s own testimony about the power of Job’s intercession for his family: you have put a hedge around him and his household and everything he has. A blessing on everything he has. Satan was not exaggerating. He was giving an accurate report of what consistent, faithful family intercession produces. A hedge. A blessing on everything. If the enemy acknowledges the power of your family prayer, it would be wise to take it at least as seriously as he does.
Pray for your family every morning. Pray for them by name. Pray specifically for what they face that day. Cover them with the blood. Declare the promises. Post the angels. And then send them out into their day knowing that the most powerful force in the universe has been activated on their behalf before a single hour of the day has unfolded.
