Small Faith, Big God
You keep waiting to feel like you have enough faith before you’ll actually step out. Enough certainty, enough spiritual maturity, enough confidence that this will work before you’re willing to try. By that measure, you may be waiting a long time.
Jesus set the bar somewhere else entirely.
“Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.” — Matthew 17:20 (NIV)
The One Point:
Jesus doesn’t ask for large, impressive faith here, He specifically names the smallest seed available, and says that’s enough. This isn’t about the size or intensity of your faith doing the moving, it’s about the size and power of the God your small faith is actually directed toward. A little bit of real trust, placed in a big God, accomplishes what a great deal of confidence placed in your own ability never could. You don’t need more faith before God can move mountains. You need the faith you already have, pointed at Him.
Thought to Ponder:
What “mountain” have you been waiting to have bigger faith for, when the small faith you already have, pointed at God, might be exactly enough?
Prayer:
Father, my faith feels small, but I’m placing it in You, who are not small at all.
Move what needs to move, through even this little trust.
Help me stop waiting for bigger faith and start using what I have. Amen.
Today’s Declaration:
“My faith is small, but my God is big. That is enough.”
Today’s Step:
Name the specific mountain in front of you today, and speak to it in prayer, honestly, using the small faith you actually have right now, not the faith you wish you had.
