Enough, As You Are, Today

You measured yourself against today’s demands before you even got out of bed, and you came up short. Not enough patience for the kids. Not enough skill for the project. Not enough energy for the conversation you know is coming. The math doesn’t work, and you haven’t even started the day yet.

“Not that we are competent in ourselves to claim anything for ourselves, but our competence comes from God.” – 2 Corinthians 3:5 (NIV)

The One Point:
Paul isn’t describing false modesty here, he’s stating something structurally true. The competence you need today was never meant to come from your own internal supply in the first place, so running low on it isn’t actually the crisis it feels like. This doesn’t mean you stop preparing or trying, it means the pressure to be independently sufficient for everything today can be released, because it was never sitting entirely on your shoulders. You don’t have to manufacture enough today. You have to draw from the One who already has enough, and keep drawing as the day requires it.

Thought to Ponder:
Where have you been quietly assuming you have to be enough today entirely on your own, instead of drawing from God’s sufficiency?

Prayer:
Father, I don’t have enough in myself for what today is asking.
Thank You that my competence was never meant to come from me alone.
Let me draw from You as today unfolds. Amen.

Today’s Declaration:
“My competence comes from God. I don’t have to be enough on my own today.”

Today’s Step:
Before the moment today that feels like it will demand more than you have, pause and ask God specifically for what that moment requires, rather than trying to supply it yourself first.
