7 Biblical Ways God Speaks to You Today
(The Frequency of Heaven Explained)

Moving from “Spiritual Guesswork” to Prophetic Clarity.
โMy sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.โ
John 10:27 (NKJV)
If you have ever whispered the prayer, โLord, speak to me,โ and felt met only by silence, you are not alone.
One of the most searched questions on the internet today is: โHow do I hear Godโs voice?โ Millions of believers are currently asking: Is that God, or is it just me? We live in a world of 24/7 noise, digital pings, mental clutter, and the constant roar of anxiety. Yet, the Great Shepherd is not silent. The problem isn’t a “speechless God”; it’s a “misaligned receiver.”
In this deep-dive study, we are going to tune your spirit to the Frequency of Heaven. We will explore the seven primary channels God uses to communicate and uncover the Greek and Hebrew mechanics of how He guides His children today.
KEY INSIGHT: Jesus did not say, โMy sheep will eventually learn to hear My voice.โ He said, โMy sheep hear My voiceโ, present tense, active, ongoing. Hearing God is not an achievement you work toward. It is a birthright you walk in.
Before we dive in, answer this in the comments: If God spoke to you clearly today, what is the one area of your life where you need His direction most?
Does God Still Speak Today? Yes, and here is why you can be sure. Some grow up believing that God spoke only in Bible times, a teaching known as cessationism. However, the overwhelming testimony of Scripture argues otherwise.
- Hebrews 13:8 declares: โJesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.โ
- Acts 2:17 (The Pentecost Promise) declares: โYour sons and your daughters shall prophesy…โ
The communication channels of heaven are not closed. Jeremiah 33:3 remains an open invitation: โCall to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things.โ
The 7 Channels of Divine Communication
1. The Logos: The Eternal Constitution The most foundational way God speaks is through His Written Word. In 2 Timothy 3:16, Scripture is described as Theopneustosโliterally, โGod-breathed.โ This is the Logos, the settled, unchanging, and eternal Counsel of God.
- The Mechanic: When you open Scripture with a seeking heart, the Holy Spirit illuminates the text. This is the living Word piercing and discerning. (Hebrews 4:12).
- The Rule: The Logos is your “Umpire.” God will never speak a word to your heart that violates the Word in your hand.
2. The Rhema: The Targeted Signal While the Logos is the entire body of truth, the Rhema is a specific word for a specific moment. In Matthew 4:4, Jesus says man lives by every word (Rhema) that proceeds from the mouth of God.
- The Mechanic: It is the difference between a “cookbook” and a “served meal.” The Logos tells you God is a Provider; the Rhema tells you exactly how He is providing for your specific rent payment this Tuesday.

3. The Inner Witness: The “Kardiatis” Connection Romans 8:16 says the Spirit โbears witnessโ with our spirit. The Greek word is symmartyrei, to testify alongside. This is a quiet but settled conviction that rises in your spirit without an obvious external source (1 Kings 19:12).
- Personal Note from Rev. Adejugbe: I once had a “perfect” opportunity presented to me. My mind said “Yes,” but my spirit had a Phobas, a holy unease. I waited. Weeks later, the truth came out, and that deal would have been a disaster. That unease was the Holy Spirit “testifying alongside” my spirit to protect my future.
4. The Brabeuo: The Peace of the Umpire In Colossians 3:15, we are told to let the peace of God โruleโ in our hearts. The Greek word for โruleโ is Brabeuล, the word used for an umpire or referee in an athletic game.
- The Mechanic: Just like an umpire signals โSafeโ or โOut,โ the Holy Spirit uses peace to signal God’s timing. If you have all the facts but no peace, the Umpire is signaling โOut.โ Do not move until the peace of God says โSafe.โ
5. Chazown: Dreams and Visions God often speaks when our conscious defenses are down (Job 33:14โ15). In Hebrew, a Vision (Chazown) implies a prophetic revelation that carries authority.
- The Mechanic: A God-given dream carries a Kavod (glory/heaviness) that lingers vividly after you wake up. Not every dream is from God, but a Chazown carries a distinctive weight or urgency and always aligns with the Word.
6. The Bath Kol: The Prophetic Echo In ancient Jewish thought, the Bath Kol is the โDaughter of a Voiceโ, the echo of Godโs voice heard through others.
- The Mechanic: Have you ever sat in a church service and felt the preacher was reading your private journals? That is the prophetic dimension of anointed preaching (1 Corinthians 14:3). God uses an External Voice to validate the Internal Whisper you were too hesitant to trust.
7. Kuwn: The Sovereign Setup of Circumstances Proverbs 16:9 says the Lord โdirectsโ our steps. The Hebrew word is Kuwn, meaning to fix, establish, or prepare. * The Mechanic: God speaks through opened or closed doors (Revelation 3:8). This does not mean every open door is from God, but when circumstances consistently align with the Word and the Spirit, that convergence is divine communication.
The 5-Point “Filter of Truth”
Before you act on a โword,โ pass it through this Biblical Sieve:
- Logos Harmony: Does it align with the written Word? (Isaiah 8:20)
- The Brabeuล Test: Does it produce deep, settled peace or frantic panic? (Colossians 3:15)
- Christ-Exalting: Does it glorify Jesus or your own ego? (John 16:14)
- Multi-Channel Witness: Is it confirmed by 2 or 3 sources? (2 Corinthians 13:1)
- Obedience Test: Does it call you to faith and surrender or just convenience?
Practical Application: 4 Steps to Better Hearing
- STEP 1: Daily Logos Deposit. Read the Bible every day until the Word begins to read you. Ask the Holy Spirit for illumination before you start.
- STEP 2: The 10-Minute Selฤh. (Hebrew for โPause & Thinkโ). Set aside time for total silence. Say: โSpeak, Lord, Your servant is listeningโ (1 Samuel 3:9).
- STEP 3: Keep a Spiritual Journal. Record your impressions and date them. Over time, you will see the patterns of Godโs voice in your life.
- STEP 4: Submit to Accountability. Share what you sense with a pastor or mentor. Humility and accountability protect you from deception (Proverbs 15:22).
PROPHETIC DECLARATION
“I am a sheep of the Good Shepherd, and I hear His voice! I recognize the frequency of the Holy Spirit. My spiritual ears are open to the voice of the Lord. I receive His Word, I discern His Spirit, and I recognize His hand in my circumstances. I will not be deceived by strange voices, for I know the voice of my Father. In Jesus’ name, Amen!”
