A Different Kind of Strength
You keep waiting for the weakness to go away before God can use you. The chronic condition, the anxiety that won’t fully lift, the limitation you’ve prayed about for years without change. Somewhere in your mind, strength and usefulness are the same thing.
Paul asked God three times to remove his own weakness. God’s answer wasn’t what he expected.
“My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness… For when I am weak, then I am strong.” — 2 Corinthians 12:9–10 (NIV)
The One Point:
God doesn’t remove Paul’s thorn, He redefines what strength actually looks like. This isn’t a promise that every weakness will be healed if you just have enough faith, Paul’s wasn’t. It’s a different kind of strength altogether, one that doesn’t depend on the weakness disappearing first. God’s power shows up most clearly not despite your limitation, but often through it, in ways strength alone could never display. You don’t have to wait until you’re strong enough for God to use you. Your ongoing weakness might be exactly where His power is choosing to be seen.
Thought to Ponder:
What weakness have you been treating as a disqualification, that God might actually be using as the very place His strength is displayed?
Prayer:
Father, I’ve been waiting for this weakness to disappear before I felt useful to You.
Show me Your strength made perfect right here, not after I’m fixed.
Let Your power be seen in exactly what I lack. Amen.
Today’s Declaration:
“My weakness is not disqualifying. God’s strength is made perfect in it.”
Today’s Step:
Name the specific weakness you’ve been most ashamed of, and thank God for one way His strength has already shown up through it, even partially.
