Starting Again Without Starting Over
A new month doesn’t erase the old one, and it doesn’t have to. You’re not being asked to pretend September didn’t happen, the wins, the struggles, the parts you’d rather forget. You’re being asked to walk forward from exactly where you actually are.
“Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?” — Isaiah 43:19 (NIV)
The One Point:
God isn’t asking Israel to erase their history, He’s asking them to stop letting it define what’s possible next. There’s a real difference between starting again and starting over. Starting over implies the past has to be wiped away first. Starting again means you carry forward what’s true and useful from where you’ve been, while remaining open to something genuinely new that God is doing right now. This new thing is already springing up, the question isn’t whether God is doing something new this month. It’s whether you’re paying enough attention to perceive it.
Thought to Ponder:
What “new thing” might God already be doing this month that you haven’t fully noticed yet, because you’re still looking backward at last month?
Prayer:
Father, thank You for this new month, and for what You did in the last one.
Help me carry forward what’s true without being trapped by what’s past.
Open my eyes to what You’re doing right now. Amen.
Today’s Declaration:
“I am starting again, not starting over. God is doing something new.”
Today’s Step:
Write down one thing from September you want to carry forward, and one thing you’re intentionally leaving behind, then ask God to show you what’s springing up this month.

2 Corinthians 5:17 (The old has gone, the new is here)
Lamentations 3:22–23 (New mercies every morning, applied to a new month)
